About LingoGuessr

Hear the language. Guess the place. Discover the world.

LingoGuessr is a free browser game built around one simple idea: play a short voice clip from somewhere in the world, and see if you can place it on the map. There's no login wall and no download – you can start guessing within seconds of landing on the homepage.

Why we built it

Geography-guessing games are everywhere, but almost all of them work from photos. We wanted something built around listening instead – accents, rhythm, and the sound of a language rather than street signs or architecture. LingoGuessr grew out of that idea: a way to sharpen your ear for languages while learning a bit of geography (and a lot of trivia) along the way.

What's in the game

The core loop is the same everywhere: listen, guess a spot on the map, see how close you were. Around that core there are a few different ways to play:

The language pool currently covers 150+ languages and regional accents across every inhabited continent, each with a short fact card that shows up after you guess – the idea is to leave with a small piece of trivia even on rounds you get wrong.

Who's behind it

LingoGuessr is an independent project made and maintained by Tino Lewandowski. You'll find the full legal details on the Legal Notice page. If you spot a bug, have feedback, or just want to say hi, reach out any time.
